My name is Jessica and my mission is to end veteran soldier suicide. After many years in the military and losing battles buddies but also stuffing my own battle with Suicide I knew there was something I had to do. So I started The Ruyts Foundation of Veteran Suicide Prevention. Where our main mission is to end all veteran soldier suicide in Virginia and then go nation wide. We want our soldiers to know they are loved and that death by suicide is not the only option.
In 2015, I tried to take my own life. The VA failed me and turned me away after I fought for my country. The suicide rates are extremely high and there is not lowering insight. Each day 22 veterans and soldiers on average take their lives by suicide. This isn’t right and needs to be lower. Death bu suicide should never be an option. We must take a stand and fight against veteran suicide now.
